Hastings Valley Motel is a family run motel centrally located in Port Macquarie. We offer clean, affordable accommodation in a quiet location, in easy reach of the town centre, beaches and other major attractions.

Port Macquarie is located on the mid-north coast of New South Wales and is an ideal stopover if travelling between Brisbane and Sydney.

Port Macquarie is also a wonderful holiday destination with great beaches, a vibrant shopping district and a large range of restaurants and eateries.

A large number of events are held annually in the Port Macquarie / Hastings area and include the Australian Ironman event in Autumn and The Blues & BBQ Festival and the Tastings on the Hastings Food and Wine Festival in Spring.

Koala Hospital

The Koala Hospital is in the grounds of Roto House. It is the world's first hospital dedicated solely to the care and preservation of koalas. The hospital has a treatment room, eight Intensive Care Units, a 24 Hour Rescue and Treatment operation and multiple recovery yards. The hospital has a research affiliation with the University of Sydney, Australia.

Walk and Talk tours are conducted every day at 3pm. Coach tours are welcome between 8am and 2pm. Educational displays and group lectures can be arranged.

The Koala Society of NSW Inc is a voluntary organisation and your support will help save the koalas of the Port Macquarie Area


Chinese Junk Cruises

Junk Cruises is a locally owned company in Port Macquarie, providing both scheduled trips and private charters on the Hastings River. Come and enjoy this beautiful and interesting waterway on a beautiful and interesting boat with a friendly, experienced and knowledgeable Captain.

The Chinese Junk runs every day, with a variety of cruises to enjoy. Morning and afternoon scenic trips with a hot tea or coffee and cake and a historical commentary. Lunch or sunset cruise with fish and chips included in the trip.

All cruises participate in dolphin spotting and Junk Cruises will do their best to give you an up close and personal dolphin experience!



Douglas Vale Historic Homestead and Vineyard

Constructed in 1862 and authentically restored, the Homestead and outbuildings are classified by the National Trust of Australia. Within the homestead is a dedicated museum containing a unique collection of artefacts depicting early Colonial lifestyles; the families who lived on the property were pioneers of both the wine and oyster industries in Port Macquarie. Set on seven magnificent acres including an established vineyard and orchard, the well-kept gardens still display 150 year old trees, shrubs, bushes and a Heritage bamboo glade entrance.

Unique in Australia, Douglas Vale is the only volunteer run, not-for-profit enterprise, producing six exclusive wines, including the famous Portabella Port from original vine stock.


Port Venture Cruises runs the largest vessel cruising the Hastings River in Port Macquarie. She is a lovely, all-weather spacious river catamaran, with two decks or viewing levels, and plenty of space to move around.

Port Venture Cruises supply a number of different experiences including a historic river cruise or a fun boom net ride at twilight, or the 'must do' lunch barbecue cruise. Licensed bar on board.

The River Princess is able to carry up to115 passengers and is available for private charter and special events.

The dolphins are quite often attracted to the boat as they enjoy surfing the bow waves. Dolphins appear beside the boat on most cruises. There is a safe boom net - on the rear of the vessel which is fun for all ages so don't forget your swimmers.


Located in the heart of Port Macquarie, the Glasshouse is home to a Theatre, Regional Gallery, Ross Family Studio, Visitor Information Centre, gift shop, conference and meeting facilities, heritage displays, cafe and restaurant. The Glasshouse is purpose designed to accommodate conferences of up to 588 delegates in a fully tiered auditorium or over 100 delegates in the Ross Family Studio, along with ample foyer and breakout spaces over multiple levels, commercial catering facilities and over 600 square metres of international standard Gallery space.

The Glasshouse Regional Gallery is a hub for culture, creativity and the arts. The Gallery showcases around 20 to 25 diverse exhibitions each year featuring contemporary, indigenous, historical, traditional, design and sculptural artworks

Step back in time with a visit to Timbertown Wauchope, where you can ride the steam train, experience the bullocky display, observe the timber craftsmen at work and smell the coals of the blacksmith. Set amongst 87 acres of natural forest, Timbertown is an entire village, re-created to demonstrate the struggles and achievements of Australia's pioneers. It's an authentic heritage township, where the steam train still runs, timber is still sawn, and the bullock team still hauls its heavy load. You'll smell the distinctive aroma from the steam engines, the smell of sawn timber, and the lure of freshly baked bread and hot roast beef. Timbertown is considered by many to be one of Australia's finest heritage parks. Since opening in 1976, approximately 2,000,000 people have visited Timbertown from all parts of Australia and from around the world. Timbertown's Cedar Creek Goldfield is a welcome addition to the park.



Port Jet's beautiful boat the "Wave Rider" is one of Port Macquarie's favourite water-based attractions. Wave Rider is purpose built for our beautiful region, she will blast you out to sea in absolute comfort and safety to spend more time with the whales. Port Jet spends more time on the water per whale watching trip - up to one and a half hours. You can also hop aboard Wave Rider on the 'Ocean Blast' ride and rocket down the coastline in complete safety and comfort to see all of Port Macquarie's beaches. Top speeds on the thrill ride are in excess of 100 kilometres per hour thanks to the three environmentally friendly 300 horsepower V6 outboard engines - a total of 900 horsepower! Port Jet also operates one of the only hire-and-drive jet ski parks in New South Wales. Drive it yourself - no license required.

Emerald Downs Golf Course is an 18 hole, privately owned, public Golf Course that is easily accessible to social golfers, social groups and visitors to the Hastings area.

Emerald Downs Golf Course is open for social play 364 days of the year - only closing for Christmas Day. The public course and clubhouse is surrounded by the Emerald Downs Residential Estate, and boarders Lake Innes Nature reserve, along with the lakes and dams the lush natural vegetation house an array of wildlife including a healthy koala and kangaroo population.

Emerald Downs Golf Course caters for all your golfing needs. Facilities include club hire, buggy hire, and electric cart hire. With self-catering barbecue facilities available. Group bookings are welcome.

Port Macquarie Museum showcases the best of Port Macquarie's history from its British settlement as a penal colony in 1821, through to the present day as a popular tourist resort town. The museum's significant collection is displayed in 14 award winning rooms and galleries, in a series of themed exhibits.
Displays are regularly updated and temporary exhibitions are held from time to time. Port Macquarie was one of the earliest convict settlements outside of Sydney. The Museum building and additions are classified by the National Trust of Australia (NSW) as a rare example of a convict built structure circa 1836. Why is Port Macquarie special?
